the other card

Happy Tuesday! I'm at Pokeno (hopefully winning) this evening, but I wanted to show yall the other card I made for a work birthday this week. I don't know why I made 2 red cards because I think her favorite color is green.

Jason and I took the kids to AlphaFest Saturday. There were WAY too many people there. Here are the kids with the Chick-fil-a cow.

The cow had a head, but there were too many people and we didn't have time to get a good picture. Several little girls from church that take dance did performances, so we got to see a few of those. Here's Jason holding both the boys while we got ready to watch. By this point, Anthony's patience had run out.

When he's done, he's done and he had about reached that point. If you squint and tilt your head, though, you can almost make it look like he was just laughing. Thanks for looking at the headless cow and wild kids. Yall have a good evening!

birthday or sympathy?

Good evening! I know--another weird title. I made a card intending for it to be someone's birthday card at work, but to me, it looks a little too serious like a sympathy card. What do you think?

I ended up making another card. I'll post it tomorrow. In the mean time, here are some pictures of the kids. First off is Joey learning to tie his shoes.
Next we have Anthony playing outside, which he loves to do. He's wearing some adorable frog rubber boots that Joey grew out of before he wore them more than a time or two.

It is so funny to me how much Joey is like me and Anthony is like Jason. Sunday afternoon Anthony spent a few hours outside since Jason was working on the flower beds. Joey laid on the couch and read his Nintendo DS game manuals. Since he has learned to read, he reads everything in sight. I thought he knew everything about all things Mario, but he discovered a few things while doing his Sunday reading. Anthony nearly had a fit when it was time to come in and get ready for evening church. I hope yall are having a good week so far. This is my busy week with Heart to Home on Monday night, Pokeno on Tuesday night, and month-end close beginning Wednesday. Be sure and comment whether you think my card is a birthday card or a sympathy card and I'll be back tomorrow with the other card I made.

scary moment

I was just finishing my posts for the next few days and saw something out the french doors--it was the new Tails! He scared me half to death but reminded me I forgot to tell yall we are still feeding the new orange cat every evening. Joey said he/she belongs to the neighbors across the street, but he still comes over for dinner every night. Anthony doesn't realize it's not the same old Tails. He told me the other day, "Tails is eating again!" That must have been some diet he was on since he "stopped eating" around November or December! Off to feed new Tails and go to bed. Good night!

LOTW swap

Hey yall. This evening I want to share the swap I just finished. It's a Letter Of The Word swap (LOTW) for zoo stuff. I signed up for the E in tiger. Here's what I made.

I'll get back the other letters in the word tiger, but it will be a while because the swap isn't due until May 1. Since we're talking about the zoo, here are some pictures of when Jason and the boys went to the zoo while I was at my scrapbook retreat.

Have a great evening!

Birds & Guitars

Yep, I know the title is a little weird, but the title is the hardest thing about having a blog. Plus I wanted to warn my SBS sister Kathy that there were birds on this post! Tuesday evening I made 2 cards using some of my new goodies from my secret sister Daisy. Joey keeps asking me every day, "Did you get any more mail from Mrs. Daisy?" It is so cute. I told him I was gonna get a new secret sister now, but he really likes Mrs. Daisy. I enjoyed having her as my big sis. On to the cards!

Both of these bird cards are using my new paper pack and matching brads. The sentiments are both from new stamp sets.

I love how they turned out. The best part is I used only 2 sheets, so I still have 34 sheets left!

I also made a birthday card for Kate. She turned 14 on Friday, so while I was at my retreat I borrowed someone's Indie Art cricut cartridge to cut out some guitars.

I think she'll like the guitars. I hate that I'm sending it so late, but that's just the way I operate most of the time.
Update on the 180 glasses--I took them on Friday to the place. I couldn't reach the woman on her cell phone, so I had to wait for her about 20 minutes before someone found her. She forgot I was coming, so she also forgot to get my check :( but don't worry--this is not the kind of place where I am concerned I'm not going to get paid. I emailed her my mailing address Monday so she could mail the check to me. Had I realized it would take so long to get to me, I probably would have gone back out there (it's very close to work). It didn't come in Tuesday's mail, but hopefully it will show up Wednesday.
I think yall are all about updated now. I hope your week is going great. Can you believe March is almost gone??? April means quarter end close at work, but hopefully it will all be smooth sailing. Have a good evening!

Happy Mail Day

Hey yall. I've finally recovered from my scrapbook retreat this weekend. I had so much fun, but I sure was tired when I got home. Dorm life is not what it used to be. When I got home, I had tons of happy mail. Joey and I spent about half an hour opening everything. Here's the kitchen table after we opened everything.

I received all of this stuff--

1 - my reveal package from my secret sister on SCS
2 - stamps I ordered from About Art Accents with a bonus stamp
3 - stamps I ordered from someone on SCS with lots of extras thrown in
4 - an image swap from Swap-Bot
5 - cards from the inspirational bible verse card swap on SCS
6 - my free rebate cartridges from Provo-Craft
7 - my free stamps from Inkadinkado (see Joey holding them below)

While Joey and I were opening all the happy mail, Anthony was making himself a moustache and beard.
The boys really loved looking at their scrapbooks. Joey read every word I wrote while admiring the pictures.
Anthony tried to take several things back out of the scrapbook that he wanted, especially one of his coloring sheets. I had to hide his daycare book and let him look at another book.
I hope yall had a great weekend too. I'll be back with some cards I made tomorrow. Good night!

It's almost delivery day!

Hey yall. Nothing new to show in the craft arena. I spent this evening packing for my scrapbook retreat this weekend. I HATE the packing part, so I just shoved almost everything I have in a bag or container and loaded up the van. Actually, loaded is an understatement when you consider I also got Jason to load the 15 dozen glasses I will be delivering tomorrow, plus bedding & clothes for the retreat. I'm gonna have to drive really careful tomorrow. Several of yall know my biggest fear right now is that someone will rear-end my van and I will hear the sound of breaking glasses. I would have to be carted off to the asylum if that happened. I will be taking the glasses to the place (I'm not sure if they want me to share) at 3:30 tomorrow and I will get the payday I have been waiting for. I'm gonna buy SCAL software first. Well, I'll probably spend some of it at the retreat this weekend, but SCAL is the first planned purchase. In other news, I got my hair done today. I went more blonde than red this time. After yesterday's water incident I thought it was quite appropriate. She put some new product in it this time and last time that makes my overly thick hair seem thinner and shinier. It feels so nice. Anyway, I gotta get to bed (as if I'm gonna sleep) so I can be rested up for my long scrapping weekend!

Blonde moment

When I got off work today I had several errands to run. I found the tea glasses I needed, picked up my weekend retreat supplies from Wal-Mart, and picked up some vinyl at Hobby Lobby. On my way home, I saw workers in our neighborhood and remembered Christina told me we didn't have water when she left our house at lunchtime today. I tried it out when I got home and sure enough, no water. I decided against mac & cheese since I didn't have water to boil and fixed a quick dinner of eggs & toast. After that I etched the 8 glasses I needed done this week. When it got time to rinse the glasses I remembered -- no water (blonde moment). Since I had to do something, I put some bottled water in a bowl and rinsed the glasses. I am so relieved that I made those 3 dozen glasses last night instead of doing them tonight like I originally planned! Jason said they were still working on the road when they came home around 7:45. Hopefully I can take a shower in the morning. If not, it's not gonna be pretty. Yall have a great evening--I'm exhausted from being so busy this week so I think I'm gonna call it a night.

I'M FINISHED!!!

I'm finished with all 180 glasses! I stopped by the glass place after work and picked up the additional 32 glasses I needed (plus a few extras for mistakes) and got them done. I am so glad I'm finished with them. I'll be delivering them on Friday afternoon. I've got one more order for 8 tea glasses to do this week. I'll pick those up tomorrow after work and get them done. I've also gotta pack for my scrapbook retreat this weekend. I hope yall are having a good evening. I need to go eat dinner now. Thanks for reading!

Tails???

Ok, so I came home this evening around 8:30 and saw Tails on our roof! Here's a picture.

Ok, so compare this friendly cat to the one in this post. Yeah, I don't think it's Tails, but maybe it'll stick around anyway. I left some food out for it after petting it for a good 5 minutes. The boys will be so excited if he stays long enough for them to see him (or her--at the time I didn't think about checking). Anyway, have a good night!

Busy day

Hey yall. I only have a few minutes to post today but I had to share this picture of 2 of my 3 favorite guys. Jessica took this picture at church yesterday. Have a good evening!

I've been busy...

We didn't have evening church due to our 60th anniversary celebration, so I took the opportunity to work on my large glass order. I took a few pictures along the way to show you a little about the process.

The first step is to put the vinyl template on the glass. The vinyl needs to be smooth and not have any air bubbles, especially close to the cut out image.

Next, apply the etching cream to the cut out section of the vinyl. See the glass on the left? That one was just a drip away from being ruined. Sometimes the cream will drip down below the vinyl. If you catch it immediately, you can wipe it off. If it sits for even a minute, you'll have a permanent mark. I messed up and had drip marks on 4 glasses throughout this project.

Here are the finished glasses. I had worked on them 3 different times and had gotten 79 done. This evening I did the remaining 69 glasses I had. That's a total of 148 glasses. The order was for 180 glasses. I'm going to have to meet up with the woman in charge of the order so she can decide what type of glass she wants to get for the remaining 32 glasses. It's possible the place we're getting the glasses from has gotten some more of these in, but I doubt they've actually gotten the same glass. I'm going to shove the last 2 3-dozen boxes under the bed and call it a night. I hope yall had a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Anthony!

Today we had Anthony's 3rd birthday party. He went non-stop all day and had a blast. Here are a few pics of my big boy.

Someone's gonna have a birthday!

Hey yall. Just wanted to let yall know my little boy is about to be 3! Here's what he thinks about being 3.

=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSYYYYYHJLOLJJJJJJJJJJ

Sorry for the spam, but he wanted to type too. Jason and Joey have gone to see about getting Joey's DS fixed since he has the potential to be ungrounded tomorrow. They're also gonna try to buy a present for the child who has everything. Anyway, I hope yall are having a great evening. I'll probably be too busy to post the next few days.

FREE STAMPS!!!

Hey yall. I've got some excited news for all you stampers out there. Inkadinkadoo is giving away free stamps! The March INKAnews has a section at the bottom that says if you submit a project to their gallery, you get a free stamp! The maximum per household is 3 projects for 3 stamps. Lindsay at The Frugal Crafter shared this news with her bloggers last week when she sent in her projects. Yesterday she got 3 awesome stamps in the mail! You have to send them your actual projects, not just pictures. Here are my 3 cards I'm sending in tomorrow.

I received this fairy in an image swap and saw her on Inkadinkadoo's website, so I made a card with it. I'm not a huge fairy fan to begin with and this one kinda frightens me, so I figured I wouldn't use it anyway.

My camera had a hard time picking up the green ducks in this one. I love this card and will probably make another. I own this stamp & 2 more by Inkadinkadoo. The other 2 are detailed scenes and I just wasn't in the mood to use them.

Here's my second card with the duck stamp. It's pretty plain, but I still think it's cute. It fits with the new trend of "Clean and Simple" cards. I was determined to get 3 projects done tonight so I can get some free stamps! I hope you enjoyed my little projects. I'm uploading this post on Jason's laptop again and I'm really getting attached to this thing! I've got a scrapbooking retreat in a week and a half so I'm using the desktop right now to upload pictures to Winkflash. The desktop computer is acting better today, but this laptop is wonderful! Of course it's only accessible because Jason's at church. He'll be home any minute now and I'll have to give it back...oh well. Time to upload some more pics. Have a great evening!

Peachy Cheap

Hey yall. I made a card tonight but may not get to upload it if the old desktop computer doesn't start behaving. I'm afraid it's about to die which is quite unfortunate since I don't have the money for a new one and I don't know that we have budgeted for it to go out. The card I made used some rub-ons I ordered from Peachy Cheap. If you haven't checked them out, be sure to look after you read this post. I've got a link on the sidebar that will take you to the site. They sell 1 item each day and it is always on sale. I bought over 1000 rub-ons the other day for less than $10 including shipping, which is always $4.99. She puts 1 item for sale on the site Monday-Saturday and when all of that item is gone, it's gone. I ordered the rub-ons last Wednesday and received them Saturday. Let me try switching from the laptop to the desktop so I can try loading the card. Here it is.

I needed a card for my Little Sister on SCS so I made this one. The corner decorative stuff is the rub-ons. I used a stamp in the middle. By the way, I know my blog is still decorated for Valentine's Day, but I just LOVE the bird, so I think I'm gonna keep it like this for a little while. This post took forever so now it's bedtime. Have a good evening and don't forget to check out Peachy Cheap!

Daylight Savings Sunday

Did everyone remember to set their clocks back last night? Daylight savings time definitely made 8am church a challenge for me this morning. The rest of the family did fine, but I didn't make it there until 8:20. Lots of people didn't make it at all, though, so I guess I did ok. I have nothing new to show as I haven't crafted anything. I'm about to go work on some glasses for the next hour until it's time to get ready for evening church. From the sounds of the Shrek DVD it should keep the kids occupied for about that long. I hope you're all having a great weekend!

I'm "sew" happy

Look at my beautiful card I received from my Big Sis! One of the main reason I'm excited about this card is because I have this stamp set and never use it.

I guess I'm gonna have to get the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I've seen so many beautiful projects made with what I used to consider a "plain" embossing folder. I've now decided the dots are the subtle touch a lot of cards need. We've got a soccer game this morning. Hopefully it will be warmer than the last 2 games!

Early St Patty's Day

My SCS Big Sis sent me another early St Patrick's Day card. It has the cutest little leprecaun on it! Her cards are always so "clean."

I told you he was adorable! I hope your Friday is great. We've got our Dave Ramsey class to go to so we can learn about "green" stuff.

I'm back with Fluffles!

Hey yall. Sorry I've been away for so long--things around here have been quite busy. I haven't really crafted since I've been sick until the last day or two. I made my Fluffles cards for the Stampendous swap I'm in on SCS.

I'm gonna have to buy some more of this ribbon from the dollar bin at Michael's. I ran out before I got to make myself a card! The ribbon was my color inspiration for this project. When I signed up for the swap I knew I wanted to use this stamp. I really wanted to put the phrase "snail mail" on it, but didn't really figure out where or how to incorporate it. I'm hoping to get these out tomorrow. I hope yall are having a great week!
